Statements And Assumptions Questions Consists Of A Statement Followed By Certain Assumptions.

What is Assumptions ?

Assumptions is the hidden or unsaid part of statement. Assumptions is generally assumed,supposed and taken for granted.

Candidates are required to access the required statement and decide which of the given assumptions is implicit in the statement.

Mainly There Are Two Types Of Questions Asked In Statements And Arguments :

Type 1 : Statement With Two Assumptions :

Statement : The Union Government has decided to withdraw existing tax relief on various small savings schemes in a phased manner to augment its tax collection.

Assumption 1 : YES : People may still continue to keep money in small saving schemes and also pay taxes.

Assumption 2 : NO : The total tax collection may increase substantially.

OPTION A : if only Assumption I is implicit.

OPTION B : if only Assumption II is implicit.

OPTION C : if either I or II is implicit.

OPTION D : if neither I nor II is implicit.

OPTION E : if both I and II is implicit.



Type 2 : Statement With More Than Two Assumptions :

Statement : "If you desire to enjoy the best holidays to Europe,join our exclusive  EURO package"-An advertisement of a travel agency in an indian newspaper.

Assumption 1 : YES : Many Indians travel to European countries to spend their holidays.

Assumption 2 : NO : There are other travel agencies in India which organise holiday tour to Europe.

Assumption 3 : NO : Many people may still travel to Europe through out travel agencies.

OPTION A : all are implicit.

OPTION B : if only Argument II is implicit.

OPTION C : if either I or II is implicit.

OPTION D : if neither I nor II is implicit.

OPTION E : if both II and III is implicit.
